The mission of the devil in humanity is to kill, to steal, and to destroy. The Apostle Peter warned Believers to be sober and vigilant before the devil, as our arch enemy is going about seeking whom to devour.
Be sober, be vigilant, because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.
1 Peter 5:8 (KJV)
Anyone who is not watchful enough will fall prey to the devil, however there are certain signs that prove that the enemy is winning in an individual’s life.
- 1. PRIDE
Humility will take you a long, long, long, way with God. We are to humble ourselves.
The Bible instructs us to humble ourselves before God.
Humble yourselves before the Lord, and He will lift you up. – James 4:10 (KJV)
Instead of constantly rebelling against God, and walking with your chest up high in your sovereignty; bow down to the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
Instead of walking in this false sense of self-accomplishment at your achievements & accolades, bow down to God.
Instead of looking at your life, looking at the house you live in, looking at the money you have, bow down to God.
God opposes the proud, but shows favor to the humble. – James 4:6
God resists the proud by Himself, but He elevates the humble. Pride is traceable to the devil. Anyone that is proud belongs to the devil.
God will resist such just the same way He resisted the devil. The devil plants pride in people’s hearts.
If you have pride, you are taking after the devil, and that means he is winning you over to himself.
Pride is evil, it corrupts your very nature. Pride will push you to put yourself at the center of your life, and not God.
- 2. If You Find Yourself Compromising Your Faith
We live in a lawless society where sin is celebrated. If you join the world in immorality, or you are beginning to become unfaithful in your place of work like others, then the devil is winning you over.
Regardless of where you find yourself, you must be able to stand for the Lord.
When you are the only believer around, do you take the lawlessness in our society as an excuse for your sins, do you compromise with your faith?
If your answer is yes, then the enemy is winning over you. God demands for us to be bold, God demands your light to shine.
We must show to everyone around us that we are children of God.
- 3. TELLING LIES
You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do.
He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him.
When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it.
John 8:44 (KJV)
Many people think that lying is a small sin, but it is one of the most abominable sins before God.
God hates a lying tongue. The Book of Revelation points out that all liars shall have their part in the lake of fire.
Revelation 21:8 says that the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice dark arts, the idolaters, and all liars; they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.
We are the children of God, and we must act like it, behave like it, and live in Truth.
We must learn to walk in truth in order to please God. John 4:24 tells us that true worshippers must worship God in spirit and in truth.
- BECOMING UNYIELDING TO CORRECTION
He, that being often reproved hardeneth his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy. – Proverbs 29:1 (KJV)
It is impossible to live with a person like this. I am not perfect, you are not perfect.
Have you found a person who will never listen to correction, but always proves to be right at all times?
You will not always be right, just like I will not always be right. It is okay, we are all human.
Someone who will never listen to correction, but always proves to be right at all times.
Such people are being won by the enemy. Remember the devil’s mission is to steal, to kill, and destroy.
If he successfully makes anyone to rebuff correction he has successfully prepared them for destruction.
There are people who think they have outgrown the Word of God. They do not listen to passages that correct their errors, they think that all they do is right.
No one can tell them anything, even when the Word of God speaks against their actions.
The Word of God says that such people will suddenly perish without remedy.
Never be unyielding to correction from the Word of God. People who have such habit prove they are being won by the devil. This goes back to that issue of humility.
