4 STEPS ON HOW TO HAVE A GODLY MARRIAGE Brandy N. Morrison, February 8, 2023November 18, 2023 No matter what the world says, marriage is still a sacred institution. It is a covenant between a man, a woman, and God. It is meant to be a lifetime commitment. A Godly marriage is one where both husband and wife have a deep faith in God. This kind of marriage is not only a testimony to the world, but also a strong foundation for rasing Godly children. Both husband and wife must be committed to spending their lives together. However, building a Godly marriage is not always easy. It takes hard work, patience, and most importantly, a foundation of faith. They must be committed to following God’s plan for their lives. When you get married, you become one with your spouse. You are no longer two individuals, but one unit. This can be a very scary prospect, because it means that you now have to put your trust in someone else completely. If you have God in your marriage, then you have everything you need to build a strong, healthy, and prosperous relationship. Husbands love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave Himself for it; that He might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the Word. Ephesians 5:25-26 (KJV) A God honoring marriage is built on faith and trust. It is not built on our own strength or power, but on God’s.When we seek to love and serve God first and foremost, our marriages will reflect that. As we grow in our relationship with God, our marriages will blossom and reflect His goodness. A Godly marriage is built on love, trust, and communication. Husbands and wives need to be best friends. They should be each other’s biggest supporters. Couples need to make time for each other, and they need to pray together. A Godly marriage is one in which both husband and wife love and serve God first, and then each other. This type of marriage is built on trust, respect, and communication. If you are wanting to build a Godly marriage, start by putting God first in your own life; then work on being the best husband or wife you can be. STEP 1: PRAY TOGETHER Prayer is essential to any relationship, but it is specifically important in marriage. Pray for your spouse, pray for your marriage, and pray for God to help you both grow closer to Him. When we pray for our spouse, we are acknowledging their importance in our lives and expressing our gratitude for their presence. We can ask God to bless them with good health, happiness, and success in all their endeavors. Similarly, when we pray for our marriage, we are seeking divine intervention to help us navigate the challenges and obstacles that may arise along the way. We can ask for the wisdom and patience to resolve conflicts, the strength to overcome difficulties, and the grace to cherish and honor our partner. Above all, when we pray for God to help us both grow closer to Him, we are recognizing that our relationship with Him is the foundation of our marriage. By seeking His guidance and grace, we can cultivate a deeper sense of spirituality and purpose in our lives, which in turn can strengthen our bond with our spouse. So let us make prayer a regular part of our married life, and watch as it transforms our relationship into a beautiful and fulfilling journey of love and devotion. STEP 2: STUDY THE BIBLE TOGETHER A strong foundation in God’s Word will help you weather any storm that comes your way. Commit to reading and studying the Bible together. Having a solid grounding in the Word of God is essential to withstand the trials and tribulations that life throws at us. It is crucial to make a conscious decision to devote time to reading and studying the Bible together. By doing so, you will gain a deeper understanding of the scriptures and be better equipped to face any challenges that may arise. The Bible is a source of strength and comfort, and it is through its teachings that we can find peace and guidance in our daily lives. Therefore, it is imperative to prioritize this practice and make it a part of your daily routine. STEP 3: SERVE GOD TOGETHER This is one of the best ways to grow closer together as man and wife. One of the most effective methods to strengthen the bond between a husband and wife is by engaging in activities that promote closeness and intimacy. Among these activities, there is one that stands out as particularly effective: spending quality time together. Whether it’s going on a romantic date, taking a walk in the park, or simply enjoying a quiet evening at home, the act of sharing experiences and emotions can help to deepen the connection between two people in a profound way. By making a conscious effort to prioritize this type of bonding time, couples can create a stronger, more fulfilling relationship that will stand the test of time. STEP 4: REGUARLY ATTEND A MARRIAGE ENRICHMENT CLASS OR RETREAT In this modern new age that we are living in now, people are too quick to seek out help and advice from a psychologist, or a marriage counselor in their times of despair and confusion. When they really should be taking their frustrations to God. He is the one that we all need to seek out in times such as these. Until next time my dear readers, take care of yourselves and each other!
