Morrison, July 20, 2023November 18, 2023 Remember your Creator in the days of your youth, before the days of trouble come and the years approach when you will say, “I find no pleasure in them.” Ecclesiastes 12:1 In the book of Ecclesiastes, King Solomon shares his wisdom and reflections on the vanity of life. Amidst his musings, he imparts a crucial message to the youth – to remember their Creator in the days of their youth. This verse serves as a timely reminder for young people to prioritze their relationship with God before the challenges and trials of life take hold. Let us explore the significance of this verse and the practical ways we can remember our Creator in our youth. THE IMPORTANCE OF REMEMBERING OUR CREATOR As young individuals, it is easy to get caught up in the pursuits of this world – education, career, relationships, and personal ambitions. However, Solomon reminds us that our primary focus should be on our Creator. Remembering God in our youth sets the foundation for a lifetime of faith and obedience. It allows us to establish a deep connection with Him and seek His guidance in all aspects of our lives. THE DAYS OF TROUBLE Solomon warns that as we grow older, the days of trouble will come, and we may find ourselves saying, “I find no pleasure in them.” Life is full of disappointments; and uncertainties. Without a strong foundation in our relationship with God, these difficulties can easily lead to despair and a lack of purpose. However, when we remember our Creator in our youth, we have a source of strength and hope to navigate through the trials that lie ahead. PRACTICAL WAYS TO REMEMBER OUR CREATOR A) SEEK GOD IN PRAYER: Develop a habit of regular prayer, pouring out your heart to God, seeking His guidance, and expressing gratitude for His blessings. B) STUDY GOD’S WORD: Dedicate time to read and meditate on the Bible reguarly. It is through Scripture that we gain wisdom, understanding, and direction for our lives. C) WORSHIP AND FELLOWSHIP: Engage in corporate worship and surround yourself with like-minded believers who can encourage and strengthen your faith. D) SERVE OTHERS: Look for opportunities to serve and love those around you. By doing so, we reflect the character of our Creator and demonstrate His love to the world. E) GUARD YOUR HEART: Be mindful of the influences and distractions that can lead you away from God. Surround yourself with positive influences and make choices that align with God’s principles. Remembering our Creator in the days of our youth is of utmost importance. It sets the course for our lives; providing us with a firm foundation in the face of trials and challenges. As we prioritize our relationship with God, we find purpose, joy, and strength to navigate the journey ahead. Let us heed the wisdom of Solomon and commit ourselves to remember our Creator in our youth, knowing that in doing so, we will experience a life filled with meaning, fufillment, and an eternal connection with our loving Creator. POEM In the days of youth, a message I bring,A reminder for your heart to sing,Remember your Creator, wisdom profound,Before life’s troubles turn your world around. When joy and vigor fill your stride,And worry and sorrow seem far and wide,Pause for a moment, reflect on the truth,Embrace the wisdom of eternal youth. For time moves swiftly, oh, how it flies,Moments slip by, like birds in the skies,Before the days of trouble draw near,Seek solace in faith, let wisdom appear. Don’t wait until the years advance,To ponder life’s meaning, take a stance,For in the depths of youthful days,Lies boundless potential, clever displays. In the chase of pleasures, don’t be deceived,For fleeting temptations are soon bereaved,But in seeking the One who holds your soul,A life of purpose and meaning shall unfold. When weariness creeps, and joy seems faint,When life loses luster, tainted with taint,Remember your Creator, the source of all,In His loving embrace, you won’t stumble or fall. Find solace in His words, so wise and true,For there lies the path to wholeness anew,In the days of youth, seek divine pleasure,To build a foundation, an eternal treasure. So, listen closely to this heartfelt plea,Remember your Creator, forever free,Before the days of trouble take their toll,Find purpose, find meaning, let your spirit unfold.
